Commercial Capability

OSM’s success in leveraging its systems engineering skills, processes and culture which have been acquired via defence projects is evident in the non defence projects it has completed.

· OSM has developed a Business Requirements specification and a functional specification for a client deploying a network of 300 ATMs. OSM’s role as project manager also involved scheduling and coordination of the providers of hardware, software and network elements.
· OSM has provided a data model and an architectural strategy to an industrial services company who were evolving from a loosely connected set of information nodes to a business with an integrated value chain based around a corporate database. OSM assisted this client, via budgeting, scheduling and technical presentation, to argue the business case for this initiative. The advantages of employing components compliant with open systems specification were emphasised. OSM’s in house Open Systems Architecture Methodology (OSAM) provides a solid underpinning for such projects.
· OSM has developed integrated data management applications to support Intranet based operations for small to medium enterprises. An example of such a system is a solution based on File Maker Pro delivered to an Entertainment booking agency. The system supports the business’s workflow from the paper based booking sheet through the equivalent electronic form and onto to booking contract and invoice.
